A True Wife

"A true wife makes a man's life nobler, stronger, grander, by the omnipotence of her love 'turning all the forces of manhood upward and heavenward.' While she clings to him in holy confidence and loving dependence she brings out in him whatever is nobles and richest in his being. She inspires him with her courage and earnestness. She beautifies his life. She softens whatever is rude and harsh in his habits or his spirit. She clothes him with the gentler graces of refined and cultured manhood. While she yields to him and never disregards his lightest wish, she is really his queen, ruling his whole life and leading him onward and upward in every proper path. -JR Miller

Aftermath

This has been a bitter sweet week for us. Tornadoes ripped through our home state and left destruction in its path with the death toll near 250 and even more unaccounted for, we are just praising the Lord that our family is alive. Some have suffered damage but nothing that is not repairable well maybe except for the car that is under the tree, but hey....

I have sworn off videos and news updates because I can not handle it anymore. We are nine hours and three states away and I think I am out of tears. It is all we can do to stay put and not jeopardize our jobs by packing up and heading back to work relief there until we are not needed anymore. But we know that is impossible. So we are sending what we can and voicing a lot of prayers for those that have suffered this past month from all the storms across America. I know our home state is not the only one. One state is facing flooding, other states have suffered storms also. It is just part of life and it is not something we can control.

So God bless you and yours this week. Hold each other close and remind each other just how much you do love another.

Annie

  1. I am right there with you, just further away. Eclectic, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Cullman. Family and friends. Many of them are firefighters, EMTs and police officers. Praying with all my heart. It is all i can do.
    God bless

  3. I'm glad you posted this Annie. We see it but if we don't know someone directly and we don't see destruction around us we forget how much these people need out prayers as well as more tangible help.

  4. The devastation is unbelievable! We heard that we lost a friend. We know of another that lost her home. Yet, for all the tragedy, it warms my heart the way these communities have pulled together to help one another out. God bless the south!

  5. Thank y'all for your prayers and kind words. Yes Gems, through all of this will come renewed life and lives will be refocused to the important things.

Rogue your right the devastation is unbelievable and it leaves me very humble and grateful for what I have even if it is hand-me downs and thrift store finds. (with 3 boys I refuse "new" stuff I want them and their friends to be comfortable - feet on the couch doesn't bother me)
