A True Wife

"A true wife makes a man's life nobler, stronger, grander, by the omnipotence of her love 'turning all the forces of manhood upward and heavenward.' While she clings to him in holy confidence and loving dependence she brings out in him whatever is nobles and richest in his being. She inspires him with her courage and earnestness. She beautifies his life. She softens whatever is rude and harsh in his habits or his spirit. She clothes him with the gentler graces of refined and cultured manhood. While she yields to him and never disregards his lightest wish, she is really his queen, ruling his whole life and leading him onward and upward in every proper path. -JR Miller

A Fresh Start

So today is a new day a new attempt at submissiveness. I am up and moving before anyone. Since I work out side the home I have a bad habit of putting things off at home until the last minute. Which means I am usually doing laundry on Sunday night at 8:00. Hubby usually ends up doing his and that makes me feel guilty because I know I should be doing it instead. Well today I made a change. I have already started the laundry and I started with his clothes. I hope to have them finished and put away before he gets up.

We also recycle some of our "garbage" like plastic bottles, those horrible plastic bags you get at the grocery store, cardboard and cans. I already have everything sorta and ready to go to the recycle station. And I have brunch and linner (my version of lunch and dinner) planned and in the making. Hopefully we will have a smooth day and I do not get in a snit because he watches football (gag...barf...gag) and plays his computer games (more gagging and barfing). He works hard all week (he is a landscaper and this time of year is horrid to say the least) so he deserves down time and I will give it to him with a smile on my face. (printing off a big smile to plaster on my face LOL)

Thank you all for your support and three cheers for a new attitude and fresh starts.

Annie

PS Someone emailed me and asked if I share this blog with hubby. Yes he has access to this blog. He knows about it and it is bookmarked so he can easily find it. He also knows that I will pull it up for him anytime that he ask. What I write here is for his eyes too.

  1. annie - i read your blog yesterday and felt i wanted to post a comment, but didnt. today, i feel the same way, so i will try to communicate something that isnt quite clear. i hope it comes across correctly. it is meant as encouragement.

it seems that you are in a situation where you are having to live 'one half' of a truth while your other half catches up. what i mean is that you understand the blessing and truth behind your desire to submit to your husband while he hasnt reached to point of understanding the blessing of walking in his role of authority and leadership. i havent read all of your blogs, so i might be wrong in that summary. but, if it is correct, i want to be one to support and encourage you. i know from experience that it is not easy .. and its a daily self-commitment to remain steadfast. my experience doesnt involve the cdd component, but i was in a 'unequally yoked' marriage - i loved the Lord and he did not. it was tough. i would like to be an encouragement to you in any way i can.

  3. Everybody deserves some down time, including you. But you have to build it into your schedule.

When both people work outside the home, it makes sense to divide up the labor at home in an equitable way. At our home, I am responsible for deciding who does what, but it can be a team effort.

Whatever... I hope you have a successful day.

  4. Remember that change takes time. Working on your own heart and attitude can be the hardest thing you will ever do. God does not expect us to be perfect. We are all a work in progress.
